Yoga therapy uses yoga practices and principles to help you improve your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. It involves using yoga postures, breathing exercises, meditation, Ayurveda, and other techniques to address specific chronic health conditions or issues.

Yoga therapy is personalized to meet your needs and considers your unique physical, mental, and emotional states. As a yoga therapist, I work with each client to discuss areas of concern and develop a customized plan of yoga practices to address those needs.

Clients see me for anxiety, depression, back pain, arthritis, joint replacement, digestive issues, obesity, stress reduction, and many other reasons. Those who have never done yoga before also often seek yoga therapy because they want to learn how to practice safely before joining a group yoga class.

Many research studies support yoga and yoga therapy’s effectiveness, including:

  1. A study published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology that found yoga therapy to be effective in reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression in women with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy.

  1. A randomized controlled trial published in the Journal of Rheumatology that concluded yoga therapy effectively reduced pain and improved physical function in individuals with osteoarthritis of the knee.

  1. A randomized control trial published in the Annals of Internal Medicine that revealed the yoga group had more significant improvements in function and less pain than the control group.

While yoga therapy does not replace traditional Western medicine, the practice can be a highly effective path to enhance health and well-being. I invite you to schedule a free, one-on-one introductory session with me to learn more about how yoga therapy can benefit you.
